2009 John Jay High School graduate Jake Keegan was drafted by the Philadelphia Union, an MLS (Major League Soccer) Team.  Jake becomes the second John Jay High School graduate drafted by an MLS Team.  1998 Jay graduate Jeff Matteo was also drafted in 2002.

Keegan was a 4 year varsity starter at John Jay and a 4 year starter at Binghamton.  He was selected as the 43rd overall pick by Philadelphia.

"Jake is one of the best players I've ever coached.  He has excellent technical ability (skill) on the ball, he has excellent vision of the field and always seems to know where open teammates are.  Most importantly, Jake is able to create quality chances and can put the ball in the back of the net!  Jake scored a number of big goals for us at John Jay.  I remember he scored the only goal for us against Arlington in a section semi-final game as a freshman! The game went to Penalty Kicks and he scored in the PK shootout.  We won the PK contest and went on to the section finals thanks to the efforts of the young freshman midfielder!" - Rob Seipp, John Jay Soccer Coach

Congratulations Jake!  We are very proud of you!!!  Good luck in your professional career!!!
