Dribbling / Agility on the Ball:

Nothing is better than the Coervers.  Do them at speed!!!  Watch the tape you have from me, or get the Coerver Soccer Tapes yourself (if you are willing to put in a lot of time to learn and perfect a bunch of moves).  Go to the site:

My recommendation is to purchase the following 2 tapes.....I think these 2 are the best!

1-2-3 Goal Tape 1  Ball feeling, control, and skills

1-2-3 Goal Tape 2  Moves to get past opponents

You can also Dribble through cones at speed using different surfaces of your feet:

Dribble through cones with only the INSIDES OF BOTH FEET

Dribble through cones with only the OUTSIDES OF BOTH FEET

Dribble through cones with THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF YOUR LEFT FOOT ONLY

Dribble through cones with THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF YOUR RIGHT FOOT ONLY

You can also Dribble through cones in a Figure 8.......again using the different surfaces of your feet.  You should set the cones 15 yds. apart and strive for 3 complete figure 8's in under 30 seconds.

It is vital that when dribbling, you change your direction and your pace.  When training, concentrate on changing direction at speed and changing your pace (you don't always have to be going full speed.....slow down and be patient).

 Juggling

One of the most important activities in soccer is juggling.  You need to have a soft touch on the ball.  Juggling will help you to do that.  ONLY JUGGLE WITH YOUR FEET!!!!!  Keep your ankle locked and your Toe Pointed to hit the ball on your laces.  Every good soccer player should be able to juggle the ball with BOTH FEET as long as desired (which means you don't have a great touch unless your record is AT LEAST 1,000 juggles).

Shooting

Shoot the ball against a wall (if possible).

* Be sure to drive the ball with your instep (laces).

* Be sure to pick a spot to shoot at!!!  Don't just randomly hit the ball....try to hit a target.

* Be sure your body weight is driving through the ball - land on your kicking foot if possible.

* Be sure to lock your ankle (point your toe at the point of contact).

* Be sure to plant your kicking foot next to or even with the ball.  Many players have a tendency to plant their support foot too far away from the ball and "reach" for the ball instead of driving through the ball.

* Be sure your shooting foot travels through the shooting area at speed.

Receiving Air Balls / Trapping

Throw the ball up in the air (approx. 15 ft.. high) and receive it (out of the air - don't let the ball bounce!) with your instep (laces).

Throw the ball up in the air (approx. 15 ft.. high) and trap the ball with the inside of your foot.  Be sure to keep the ball close to you....don't let the ball run away.

Throw the ball up in the air (approx. 15 ft.. high) and trap the ball with the outside of your foot.  Be sure to keep the ball close to you....don't let the ball run away.

Throw the ball up in the air (approx. 15 ft.. high) and receive the ball with your thigh, then clean it up with your feet - DON'T LET THE BALL BOUNCE!!!

Throw the ball up in the air (approx. 15 ft.. high) and receive the ball with your chest, then clean it up with your feet - DON'T LET THE BALL BOUNCE!!!

Throw the ball up in the air (approx. 15 ft.. high) and receive the ball with your head, then clean it up with your feet - DON'T LET THE BALL BOUNCE!!!

Throw the ball against a wall and receive it / trap it using the above surfaces of your body (feet, thighs, chest, head).
